Secret Sister Game Night

The Secret Sisters met recently for a fun night of Pastor Don/Star Trekgames, food and fun!  I think the best part was when Sue Overholt and Clarice got the word Star Trek, and Sue drew a picture of Pastor Don.

Another moment that sticks out is Sharee Krieger not being able to distinguish between blue and purple on the pictionary card.. she drew the Sharee Kreigerwrong thing. She has a daycare!! Isn't that a main objective to learn colors!! :)

Lastly, we had to give Sue a hard time because during one of her drawing that should have been a manatee(large fish)... she tried to draw a matinee(early movie)... We all laughed SO hard!

Mother's Day Luncheon

The Mother Daughter Sister Friend Luncheon took place at FFM on Saturday, May 8th.  The decor was lovely spring flowers in keeping with the theme, Seeds of Faith.

The buffet tables were loaded with beautiful dishes of chicken salad, fruits, breads and desserts!

Rosa Chupp spoke to the group of women about stepping out in faith and believing that God will do what He has promised!  Rosa stories told of times when God led her to do things that may have seemed strange to some, but He had an ultimate plan each time.

Recently, Rosa sensed God wanting her to search for money to use as a blessing to someone - she didn't know who that person would be at the time.  The women were blessed as they witnessed Rosa hand-deliver that money to Rachel King as a promise to her that He will supply all her needs.  (Rachel recently gave birth prematurely to a beautiful little boy, Ryan, who has had multiple complications.)

In closing, Rosa told of her own physical pain she has been dealing with.  She is praying for healing from back pain and believes that even now, God is answering that prayer!

A special thank you to all the men and women who made this event so special!

A few of the men that so kindly served the ladies!

National Day of Prayer

For such a time as this...
National Day of Prayer in the news!

Woman to Woman

On May 26th Lisa talked about being Women of God.  We are His precious ones; jewels, and His princesses!  We are royalty in His sight.  In Isaiah 62:3 the Bible says that "we are a crown of glory in the hand of
the Lord and a royal Diadem in the hand of our God."

Sometimes we don't see ourselves the way God sees us.  A jewel is a precious stone, but also someone or anything that is very dear to us.  We are very dear and
precious to God!  Why is a diamond so precious?  Because they are rare!
They stand for eternal, everlasting LOVE!!!  When we begin to see that we
are God's precious jewel we begin to change; especially our attitude and
the way we carry ourselves.

Sometimes it is easy to change the outward appearance, but unless we change our heart we will just continue to cover ourselves with a mask.  We won't become all that God wants us to be.  We need to tell ourselves and remind ourself that we are a diamond in the rough and that God is polishing us and we need to shine radiantly and
brilliantly!!!  Our value comes from the Lord.  That is where true Peace and contentment come from.

We need to carry ourselves with Honor and Dignity!!  We need to remember that we are His precious treasure and filled with potential and worth.  Doors will open when we receive and believe this truth.  The heart holds the true beauty!!!!!!!

I Wait...

I wait with trust and patience
Upon the very One,
Who shed His blood and died for me
Who gave His only Son.

I wait so very eager
To see and touch Your face,
To kiss and hold Your holy hands
For where the nails were placed.

I wait with a whole and faithful heart
On the promises You’ve made,
That You will fulfill my hearts desires
And not one of them will fade.

I wait and know that You are true
And faithful to Your word,
That You will come return to us
For You will once be heard.

I wait with so much love and joy
Overflowing my heart and soul,
Sin has lost its grip on me
And now through You I’m whole.

I wait with one eye open
Praying today’s the day,
That You will bring them home to us
That they have found Your way.

Prayer Request, Announcements and an Encouraging Word

Venus Stewart - Please continue to pray for Dustin Jasper's sister.  There is still no news to her whereabouts due to an abduction on Monday.  Leading up to this, she had taken her two girls and left her husband in Virginia recently and was not able to get their clothes and toys from him.  Dustin said that if anyone could help with some donations, it would be helpful as they are in need and very scared.  Brook is age 5 and wears size 6.  Rachel is 3 and wears size 5.  They don't need shoes.  If you bring your donations to the church on Sunday, he'll arrange to get them to the girls.  Pray for Dustin's mom as this is very, very hard on her.  Teresa came to FFM for a few months many years ago.  The state police and FBI are looking for any leads in this case, so if you know of any you can contact the state police station.  Here's another news article on the situation.

Pray for Dustin too as this is so hard on the family.

Sub-Sunday - Just a reminder that the youth will be providing the fellowship meal this Sunday and are only asking for donations.  We'll be providing sub sandwiches made to your liking!  You can make checks out to FFM youth or give a cash donation.  We are so blessed to be in this church family.

Wednesday nights - Pastor Don has been sharing such good information with us about raising children in such a wicked age.  If you have children or will soon have children, you should come.  It's excellent and will give you some practical tools for life!

Ministry night - Due to the 5th Sunday falling on Memorial day weekend, we are moving our ministry night to May 23rd which is the 4th Sunday in May.  Start preparing for an awesome time in the Lord on that night.  Invite your friends and those in need for a miracle!  As Satan pours out his wrath upon the earth, God is pouring out his Spirit!  Come and receive a refreshing you'll never forget!  Join us in prayer for this special night!

We live in a war zone.  Christianity is being attacked on a daily basis.  The freedoms that we've grown up with and have taken for granted are trying to be stripped away.  The warriors in Christ need to arise off their butts and quit moping around and start praying some serious prayers!  It's time for God's people to arise from the ashes and take up your spiritual arms for the war is at hand.  It's a spiritual war.  Our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Take your sword in hand and put on the full armor of God.  Get involved in your communities.  Make a difference at your work place.  Satan is trying to strangle the Godly businesses or eliminate jobs from Godly people, but God says he will use the wealth of the wicked for his purposes.  He will provide for his people during the famine, just as he has done in the wilderness for his people.  Hang on to your hat and join me in shouting "Fire in the (w)hole!!!!!!!"  AN EXPLOSION IS ABOUT TO OCCUR!!!!  No matter how dark it appears and how loud the enemy shouts, remember, Jesus Christ has won this war!  Keep going and prepare.  Jesus is the captain of the hosts and is delivering our next move to his people thru the Holy SpiritDiscernment to his voice and obedience will be the keys for the days ahead.  Do not be afraid for God will be with you.  Jesus says "take heart for I have overcome the world".  Now is not the time to shrink back but to join forces in faith and pray like you never have before.

Isaiah 60:2
For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

Godly Parents - Prodigal Children

Just what do camels, fuzzy dice and prodigals have in common?  Some things are best heard firsthand from Pastor Don!  But, here is a peek into Pastor Don’s notes from the Wednesday night study on Biblical Parenting.

One of the most difficult issues that Christian families sometimes face is when they raise their children up in the Christian faith, and for whatever reason, they choose to walk away!   Why do children of godly parents go astray?  While I do not have all the answers, I believe there are many reasons for it!

Throughout the Bible we find many godly parents of children who went “hay-wire” – Adam, Noah, Samuel, Eli, Daniel and David – just to name a few.  There are three stages in a typical child’s rebellion and all three are shown in the story of the Prodigal Son – Rebellion; Re-evaluation and regret and Return!

From day one there is a power struggle – who is in control?  Here’s where the prodigal hops on his “Camelac” and cruises down the “Sunset Strip” in a distant land.  He’s having a great time doing all the things that he always wanted to do – all the while Mom and Dad’s hearts are breaking!

Hard as it is, when a child is old enough, we need to let them go!  The prodigal’s father no doubt tried to reason with him – but to no avail!  The young man was determined to leave.  Then we need to let them make their own mistakes!  At first, everything is great – it is party time!  The child tries everything that was forbidden at home, but when the money runs out his friends disappear.

We as parents need to let our prodigal go through the “ School of Hard-Knocks”.  It is risky, but it is the only way the child is going to learn.  We have to let them make their own mistakes and reap the consequences!

Once he has reached the end of his rope, the prodigal is filled with regret and begins to re-evaluate his life.  His attitude toward his father changes from “give me” to “take me”.  It is now one of submission!

Sadly, it can be said for all mankind that we never change until we get desperate!  Some of our children are not desperate yet – they are going to have to hit bottom first!

So what do we as parents do?  First, we pray for our children!  Pray, pray and pray some more!  We need to commit our children to God!  Remember that the things that our out of our control are never out of God’s control!  Finally, we need to wait patiently!

Waiting is what brings us to the Return!  How we handle the return of our children is crucial!  We need to accept our prodigal unconditionally!  The prodgial’s father did not set any conditions on his love for his son!  Remember that there is a difference between acceptance and approval!  We can accept someone without approving of their lifestyle.

Our children need to know that we have forgiven them completely!  God do not rub it in – don’t rub it in!  God is a God of second chances!  The story of the Prodigal Son represents exactly how God deals with our rebellion!  He takes our broken lives and remolds them.  He refashions them and makes something beautiful that once was a broken mess!  We need to give everything to God – for the battle is not ours – it is the Lord’s!

Parenting the Prodigal

Last Wednesday, Pastor Don delved into the subject of parenting prodigals.  Using the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15, Pastor Don showed how the story is a lesson in forgiveness.

The greatest encouragement to parents is that while Jesus is the perfect parent - He still has to parent prodigals.
